Investigation of gas-electron interactions with electron holography

Using the combination of off-axis electron holography and environmental Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), an experimental setup termed 'gas holography', we investigate how presence gas in microscope affects spatial phase resolution holograms. The is introduced either by using Environmental TEM (ETEM) or a closed-cell holder. ETEM data on shows that number electrons reaching detector decreases exponentially as function pressure. From this evidence, construct phenomenological model describes coherency changes By linking with concept inelastic scattering cross section find change beam due to related molecules present, their atomic weight average energy lost scattering. Regarding closed cell holder, conclude membranes surrounding are primary factor determining quality hologram, while pressure inside has small impact
